I'm an always optimistic, curious and communicative person. I love new challenges and constantly learning new things. I see myself as a creative problem solver.

Since roughly 2013 I specialize as a data scientist in the field of Predictive Analytics. In particular, I am fascinated with developing new machine learning algorithms for extracting knowledge from enormous volumes of data.

Before founding REVOLYTICS AG, I have been working for 17 years at various companies and in diverse functions: As a designer, technical consultant, software engineer, project manager and data scientist. During this time I have accumulated a wide spectrum of skills and knowledge.

Skills

Programming: I have been programming for 25 years now and I'm not getting tired of it. I love to code not only for the creative aspects but also there are always new skills to master and new problems to solve. I even work on tricky algorithms in my spare time. Just for fun.
Data Engineering: I have become quite familiar with relational databses. ETL tasks are part of my standard repertoire. In recent years I have educated myself increasingly in the field of NoSQL databases: In particular I deal with MapReduce on Hadoop clusters lately.
Math & Statistics: I always had a keen interest in math and statistics. However I'm more a practical than theoretical computer scientist. I'm able to read, understand and even implement algorithms complicated scientific papers, but writing mathematical proofs would be way over my head.
Machine Learning: My favorite subject currently. I normally want to get to the bottom of new Machine Learning methods, so I usually implement these myself. Only once I have a good feel for what the method is doing I start relying on tools and libraries.
Communication: Through my longtime practical experience as technical consultant I can well respond to customers. I'm an attentive listener and I ask a lot of questions to understand exactly whate the needs of my customers are. I maintain an open and polite communication style. Transparency is very important to me.
Visualization: I'm a very visual person and therefore a big fan of informative infographics and sophisticated visualizations of any kind. That's why I specialized in my computer science studies in the field of computer graphics. I try wherever possible to communicate visually.
